Choosing the right boiler for your home and circumstances will be easier to do if you have an understanding on the following terms:
A flow rate represents how many litres of hot water comes out of the tap in a minute. Your flow rate is determined by the amount (and pressure) of water that is entering your property from the water main and the ability of the boiler to heat that water to the temperature you have set. The more powerful a boiler is (represented in kW), the faster the boiler will be able to heat the water coming into your home.
The output describes the amount of power a boiler can generate for your central heating. For example, a larger property may require heating output 17-20kw in comparison to a small property which may require a smaller output.
A rating scale set by the EU which classifies boiler energy efficiency from A (the most efficient) to D (the least efficient). The higher the rating should result in your boiler using a lower amount of energy to function satisfactorily – therefore a more efficient boiler should result in lower gas utility charges.
