A gully is an outside water drainpipe that us fitted with a base, an open top (often with a grid over) and an outlet on one or more sides. Gullies are designed to drain the surface water from areas that are likely to floor or collect water. Gullies are used to discard waste water from within the inside of your home however when these become blocked with either a build up or leaves, moss or other organic matter, the water draining away can become an issue. Overflowing pipes and broken gullies can become an issue for homeowners and businesses alike.
A way to indicate whether a gully is blocked is if you notice them becoming flooded or draining slowly.
If left too long a blocked gully can lead to serious problems such as damage to your property foundations. Waste water can contaminate the outdoor of your property, leading to an extensive back up of waste which can be hazardous to health.
